Many people have seen this primitive painting on a rock near Thunder Bluff. The horse is pretty standard for this sort of thing, although a little out of place — since when have there been horses in Mulgore? But what about those hoofprints off to the left? As always, Mad Men has the answer. I was rewatching the first season on Netflix the other night and caught this little vignette between Harry Crane and Don Draper regarding the Lascaux cave paintings.

Harry: The bison get all the attention, but there are also all of these handprints. Tiny by today’s standards, with paint blown all around them.

Don: Signature of the artist.

Harry: But I thought it was… like someone reaching through the stone, right to us. «I was here.»

The walking cows were here. (Thanks to Dactyl for the screenshot!)
